Yûri Fuji 藤 優里 ペーパーアーティスト／Paper Artist
Based in Kōriyama, Fukushima, Japan
Yûri Fuji is a paper artist whose practice spans delicate kirigami, three-dimensional paper sculpture, and illuminated light art objects.
Trained in fine arts across France and Italy from 1995 to 2005, she graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze before relocating to New York, where she worked in textile design while exhibiting in solo and group shows across the city.
In 2009, she made a decisive shift — setting aside paint and canvas to work exclusively in paper. The choice was intentional: drawn to the inherent qualities of paper as a material, and to the rarity of an art practice built entirely from a single sheet.
"I wanted to work with the material itself — not paint over it. There is something rare and honest about making an entire world from paper alone."
Since then, her work has evolved from flat kirigami into architectural paper sculptures and illuminated tabletop objects that function as both art and atmospheric light. Her pieces have been exhibited at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, and commissioned for commercial spaces, wedding venues, and ceremonial projects across Japan.
She was awarded the Excellence Prize at the Shibuya Geisai, Tokyo.
Currently based in Fukushima, Japan, she accepts commissions from clients in Japan and internationally.
藤 優里は、繊細な切り絵から立体的なペーパースカルプチャー、光を組み合わせたインテリアアートまでを手がけるペーパーアーティストです。
1995年から2005年にかけてフランス・イタリアの美術学校に在籍し、フィレンツェ美術アカデミーを卒業後、アメリカ・ニューヨークへ移住。テキスタイルデザイン会社に勤務しながら、ソロおよびグループ展を重ねました。
2009年、絵画中心の制作スタイルを大きく転換し、紙のみによる作品制作へ。その選択は意図的なものでした——絵の具で覆うのではなく、素材そのものと向き合いたい。紙だけで世界を作り上げることの希少性と誠実さに惹かれたからです。

以来、平面の切り絵から建築的な立体作品へと進化し、現在はアートとしての美しさとインテリア照明としての機能性を兼ね備えた卓上作品も制作しています。パリのカルーセル・ルーブルでの展示、国内商業施設・ウェディング・セレモニアル案件への制作提供実績があります。
渋谷芸術祭・優秀賞受賞。
現在は福島県郡山市を拠点に、国内外からのご依頼に対応しています。
